Scary Moment

One of the scariest moments in my life was when the alarm at my house went off. After a long day my mom, my sister, and I arrived home at 11:00 p.m to find that my dad and brother had gone to bed. So that meant I had to turn the alarm on, so I did and went off to bed. Ten minutes later I jump out of bed to the sound of loud sirens realizing that the alarm had gone off. I run to the alarm system and turn it off. By now my whole family is awake wondering what triggered it to go off. My brother and I start looking around to see if there was anything suspicious. I was scared thinking someone broke in. My sister clinging on to me as I am shaking with fear looking around, I realized that everything was normal. My mom than started telling me that she came out of her room to get a glass of water and as she was walking back the alarm went off. I started wondering why it went off when everything was fine. As I walked up the stairs headed back to bed I realized that I didn't turn off the motion detector, so when my mom went to get water it triggered the alarm system to go off. I started laughing and went to bed.
