They say that hard work pays off. Eigth grade was a very big deal for me. It was going to be the best year because we were going to have so many awesome things happening in the year. The eigth grade class was going to have a field trip to Great America, we were going to have our Promotion, and then our Promotion Dance! It was going to be my last year in Williams Middle School and then after that I was going to become a freshmen in HIGHSCHOOL! I was so excited for the year!
I learned that I was going to have not six classes, but seven. Oh my lord, that was going to be tough, but I new I could handle it. My seventh class was going to zero period for Spanish 1. I was going to be taking a highschool level class in middle school....great...
School started and I was extremely happy to see all of my friends! I had missed them a lot over the summer. Once I got into Spanish class, I thought to myself, "What have I got myself into? This is going to be a long and hard year." First quarter came to an end and I knew that I could have done better in some of my classes. Report cards came around and I knew what was coming. I opened my report card up and saw that I had four As, three Bs, and one C. My C was in spanish. I was disappointed because I had never received a C before. I knew that my parents were not going to be too happy either. They saw my report card and said, "We know you can do better....come on lets see some improvement!" I knew that they were trying to help me but I also knew that they didn't like what they saw.
Second quarter had already begun and I was trying harder to get better grades. I set a goal and I promised myself that I would fulfill it! I was putting in more time on my homework than I had last quarter. Finally second quarter came to an end and i was excited about winter vacation. Report cards came in during vacation and I was happy to find that I had received five As, two Bs and once C+....great! Hey atleast I made some progress!
Third quarter started in January and I was spending more time on my homework and studying more for my tests. Finally third quarter ended and my grades were six As and one B+! Yay!! I was so happy!! I was jumping up and down and feeling super good about myself! But I knew I still had not reached my goal. Fourth quarter started and I worked my butt off! I didn't miss a day of school and I turned in every assignment on time. I studied extra hard for my Spanish class because that was the only class I didn't have an A in! The time came to say goodbye to middle school and hello to summer vacation!! Only a couple of days into summer vacation and I saw my report card in the mail box. I carried it home with special care like it was a rare jewel, trying not to rip it open as my instincts told me to, but instead wait for my parents to come home so we could open it together.
My parents finally came home and right as they stepped in through the door I didnt even say HI...I handed them the report card instead and asked them to open it. After looking at the report card both of my parents looked at me in a confused way. "Oh my lord, what happened? Are they that bad? Are my parents serious?" So many questions went through my head with jus that one look. My parents handed me the report card with disappointment written all over their faces. I was scared to look at it now. I peeked inside and found something so bizarre! In a row I saw A, A, A+, A, A, A+, and.... A!!!! WOO-HOO!!!! I had done it!!! I had reached my goal!!! I was so happy that word could not even describe it!
That night as a treat my parents took me out for dinner at my favorite restaraunt. Olive Gardent....mmmm accomplishment tastes good!
I guess hard work does pay off!!! :)
