Aside from occasionally finding a giant spider in my room, a lot of things don't necessarily scare me. But unfortunately I have asthma, a particularly unpleasant condition that stifles breathing. Asthma attacks are serious and have sent me to the emergency room a few times, so it's no surprise that I am terrified of them.
Once last year, I had an attack in the middle of Spanish class. I had not had an episode in such a long time, so it came as a surprise. Normally it wouldn't have been a big deal because I usually have my inhaler and chamber in my bag, but that day I had forgotten them in my locker.
So as I sat in the room gasping for air, my best friend realized what was happening to me and ran to get my medicine. At that moment, I felt the most frightening and uncomfortable feeling: suffocation. As he came back to revive me with my inhaler, I was on the verge of passing out. Albuterol had once again saved my life.
I learned my lesson that day though, so now I always have my "drugs" with me at all times.
:D
