Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is a novel that I can picture exactly what is happening as a I read. Lewis Caroll created this absurd land filled with imagination and bizarre adventures Alice goes through. Caroll uses personification and repetition many times through out the story. As the novel progresses, Alice continues her journey through Wonderland meeting a caterpillar and a Cheshire cat. Although she comes upon food that makes her grow either taller or shorter constantly, there are also many animals that Alice talks to in all the different atmospheres she is in. When meeting the caterpillar, in chapter 6, Alice is still unsure of who she is, but is able to control her height that changes in different situations. The Cheshire cat in chapter six helps Alice go in the direction to the somewhere she wants to be. Both the caterpillar and the Cheshire cat help Alice through her journey. The characters and events that happen in Wonderland are strange but it keeps the novel interesting. The bizarre adventure Alice is on keeps me wondering what could happen next.

I agree with you, in this novel I can exactly picture in my mind all the adventures Alice goes through. Though when she meets the smoking caterpillar on the mushroom, it was quite confusing. What was the point of it trying to confuse Alice of her own identity. But, then when it explained that the mushroom was a solution to her problem, it started to make sense again.
ReplyDeleteWhen she met the Cheshire cat, it was another distraction for Alice. The Cheshire cat, shows her the way where she thinks she wants to be, but not really. Alice is really headed to the garden, and yet ends up somewhere totally different. I wonder what will happen next, at again another sudden turn to her journey.
Revised:
ReplyDeleteAlice goes through changes through out the novel. The constant height change that occurs after she eats food symbolizes growing up. Alice goes from be small (a kid) to being large (teen or adult). The transformations that she goes through makes her confused about who she is. Although she is confused about who she is, the reappearance of the food that makes her grow shows that she is learning how to deal with certain situations. The changes she goes through also affects her emotions; she becomes sad, angry, and frustrated. These changes resembles her struggle of trying to figure out who she is as a person.
